Discover industrial culture, solve puzzles, and collect points!

On September 12 and 13, 2026, the Mühlstein mining area RheinEifel will be part of the Europe-wide Industrial Quest of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). In numerous locations across Europe, industrial culture will be experienced in a playful manner over this weekend.

Exciting challenges await in the Mühlstein mining area as well: In the Ettringer Lay, in the Kottenheimer Winfeld, and in the Mayener Grubenfeld, teams can go on a discovery tour and solve quests specifically designed for each location. Knowledge, observation skills, creativity, and sometimes a good estimation ability are required.

Participation is very simple: On-site, the provided QR code is scanned with a smartphone, and the respective quest is started. Subsequently, the tasks need to be solved directly at the historical site. A final team photo is also part of the challenge. The points accumulated will be included in the Europe-wide ranking of the Industrial Quest.

The Mühlstein mining area provides a very special backdrop for this: The tasks lead directly into the historical industrial landscape and make the traces of the millstone and stone industry, which are thousands of years old, immediately tangible.

Important notes:
The quests in the Ettringer Lay and the Kottenheimer Winfeld take place in the open terrain of former quarries. To participate, uneven and natural paths must be traversed on foot. Sure-footedness and sturdy footwear are therefore absolutely necessary.
The terrain includes steep areas, edges, and fall hazards. A safe distance must be maintained from rock edges and steep slopes. The designated paths must not be left. Please pay attention to the local signs and safety instructions.
Participation in the quests is at your own risk and responsibility. No liability is assumed for accidents, injuries, or other damages. Children and adolescents should be accompanied and supervised by a suitable adult.

Date: September 12 and 13, 2026
