Not far from the Ditscheider sports field and in the near of the landscape parc in Ditscheid the "XXL Baumelbank" invites you to linger in comfort.
The "XXL Baumelbank" in Kottenheim is located on the Elteberg towards Obermendig on the right-hand side below a hill. It was set up in spring 2020 by the Beautification and Transport Association Kottenheim and offers a fantastic view over Kottenheim.
The viewing platform "Silbersandblick" is located on the western flank of the Hochsimmer near the hiking trail up to the Hochsimmerturm. The 26 m² wooden platform is equipped with 2 large benches and was created in summer 2020 by Josef Ackermann in cooperation with the forest and officially handed over to the local community of St. Johann. It offers a fantastic view of the name-giving pit "Silbersand", the Nitztal, the surrounding communities up to the Nürburg and the Hohe Acht.
The observation deck "Am Johannesknecht" at Kreisstraße 21 just before the entrance to St. Johann offers a fantastic view over the Nettetal and Mayen up to the Maifeld.
About 3 kilometers from the municipality of Kirchwald, the visitor gets an impressive view of the Nitztal, which is located below the Kirchwald hills.
The about 25 m high wooden tower, was in the mai 2004 opende ,is a highlight for tourists. The tower enthusiastic vistors not just in the rural district Mayen-Koblenz but from near and far.
The "Hochsimmerturm" is an 18 m high observation tower on the mountain of the same name "Hochsimmer", which rises near the municipality of Ettringen. The "Hochsimmerturm" was built between 1909 and 1911 by the "Eifelverein Mayen" and stands on the eastern tip (583.3 m above sea level) of the "Hochsimmer".
With 747 m it is the highest elevation of the Eifel ! The " Hohe Acht " is a tertiary volcano and last but not least because of the 16,30 m high " Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turmes " on its top since 1909 visible from afar.
