In a lovely pre-Christmas atmosphere, the traditional “Quaint Advent Market” will once again take place on December 12 and 13 in the historic town center of Monreal. Surrounded by half-timbered houses and the decorated four-gabled house, the market square below the two castles will be bustling with colorful market activity.

On December 12 and 13, the “Quaint Advent Market” will once again take place this year in the historic town center of Monreal—amid a very special pre-Christmas atmosphere.
The four-gabled house and the picturesque half-timbered houses provide the perfect backdrop for the colorful market bustle on Monreal’s market square, situated below the town’s two castles—Löwenburg and Philippsburg.
At the market’s opening on Saturday, some of Monreal’s children will sing the first Christmas carols, and the Christmas trees will be decorated with handmade ornaments.
Local artisans and artists, along with culinary delights, offer the perfect opportunity to browse for the perfect gifts in a relaxed atmosphere. A special feature of the Monreal Advent Market is that the stalls primarily offer handmade items for sale, including nativity figures, wood-turned items, honey products, jewelry, homemade soaps, needlework, knitted goods, and woolen items. Refreshments include brandies and liqueurs, mulled wine, children’s punch, candied almonds, waffles, and coffee, as well as other treats.
On Sunday, the Christ Child arrives to delight children and adults alike. To mark the occasion, the Monreal Castle Band, as the event organizer, performs Christmas carols every year.
