Kapelle St. Apollonia in Ditscheid

The chapel in the center of the community of Ditscheid is dedicated to St. Apollonia - the patron saint of dental patients. The first saint's house was built on this site in 1663, a small chapel followed in 1756, and today's chapel was built in 1849. Various renovation measures took place in the years 1991 to 2007/08.

Hochsimmerturm Ettringen

The "Hochsimmerturm" is an 18 m high observation tower on the mountain of the same name "Hochsimmer", which rises near the municipality of Ettringen. The "Hochsimmerturm" was built between 1909 and 1911 by the "Eifelverein Mayen" and stands on the eastern tip (583.3 m above sea level) of the "Hochsimmer".

Hohe Acht mit Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm

With 747 m it is the highest elevation of the Eifel ! The " Hohe Acht " is a tertiary volcano and last but not least because of the 16,30 m high " Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turmes " on its top since 1909 visible from afar.

Die Schiefergruben "Bausberg" I und II in Kehrig

Pit Bausberg I and II in Kehrig.Until a few decades ago, slate mining dominated large parts of our region as far as the Moselle. The population of the local church Kehrig lived to a large extent from the work in the resident slate mines Bausberg I and Bausberg II.Even today, the many shining slate roofs, especially in the villages of the eastern Eifel, and the Mayen-based, national school for roofing craftsmanship prove this tradition.

Katholische Pfarrkirche St. Maximin und Anna

Today's church in Ettringen certainly had several predecessors at this point on the Kirchberg. In 1616 St. Maximinus is mentioned for the first time as patron. The foundation stone of today's church - according to plans by the Cologne architect Vinzenz Statz - was laid on June 9th, 1857 and 4 years later, on September 4th, 1861, the inauguration by Bishop Wilhelm Arnoldi took place.
