Winfeldleuchten im Kottenheimer Winfeld

Apr 4, 2026

Kottenheim

The Kottenheim Winfeld, with its historical relics from the past time of stone masons, will be the focus of a very special spectacle on Easter Saturday, April 4, 2026, starting at 8:00 PM.
For when do you get the chance to see a former basalt quarry glow in vibrant colors?
Light artist Peter Baur, who has already made various objects like Eltz Castle, the cloister in Trier Cathedral, or Königsstuhl in Rhens shine in the most dazzling colors, will uniquely illuminate the features of Winfeld at various stations.
Whether it's former quarry cranes or trolleys, whether basalt extraction walls or boulders, everything will be bathed in magical light and can now be experienced in a very special way in the dark.
The starting point is the forest parking lot at the Kottenheim Winfeld between Ettringen and Kottenheim on K20.
The admission fee is €7.50 in advance and €10 at the box office.
The tickets are available through the website www.buch-deine-party.de in the shop there. With the option to book different time slots, the illuminated highlights of Winfeld can be enjoyed without too much crowding.
The complete illumination will also be carried out in a climate-neutral manner. The entire electricity consumption will be generated by a photovoltaic system installed for this purpose (a so-called island system).
To safely navigate the circular path in the dark, it is important that all participants bring their own flashlight.
The circular path is unfortunately not barrier-free.
With kind support from the local community of Kottenheim, the Vordereifel Tourist Office, and the Mühlstein area RheinEifel.
